It has been officially confirmed by reports in France that Lille forward, Gervinho, has put pen to paper and signed a long-term contract with Arsenal for an undisclosed fee, reported in the fegion of £11.6 million, pending a medical.

After scoring 14 goals for the Ligue 1 champions last term, Gervinho's appeal appeared to have rocketed over recent months, promting a huge amount of interest from premier league clubs. The Gunners have stolen a march in a bid to secure the signature though, and if the reports are confirmed then Arsenal will have added another attacking dimension to their options. With Nicklas Bendtner poised to leave the club this summer, Wenger had set his sights on a new striker at the Emirates, confirming last month that he would look to bring players to the club should the 'right' players become available.

Meanwhile, it was announced last night that Lille had turned down a £10.6 million offer from Tottenham for the Versatile striker.

After the capture of Carl Jenkinson from Charlton, Gervinho becomes Arsenal's second signing of the transfer window. It is alos believed that Arsenal are in talks with represetatives of Chris Samba. Gary Cahill is also a target for Arsenal.
