Arsenal Transfer UPDATE - Gervinho Done Deal, Samba & Cahill in advanced talks....

By Zain Mahmood June 16 17:45

Arsenal have secured the signing of Gervinho for a reported £10.4m, and is expeced to be officially anounced before the end of the week.
The Ivory Coast forward has agreed personal terms this week and is ready to sign permanently for Arsenal on a four-year contract.
Gervinho played an instrumental role in Lille’s double-winning campaign, scoring 18 goals and providing 10 assists in all competitions. The Gunners have stolen a march in a bid to secure the signature though, and if the reports are confirmed then Arsenal will have added another attacking dimension to their options. With Nicklas Bendtner poised to leave the club this summer, Wenger had set his sights on a new striker at the Emirates, confirming last month that he would look to bring players to the club should the 'right' players become available.
After the capture of Carl Jenkinson from Charlton, Gervinho becomes Arsenal's second signing of the transfer window.

In other transfer news, it appears that Arenal are in advanced talk with both Smaba and Cahil.
After losing out on Samba’s former Blackburn Rovers team-mate Phil Jones, Wenger is keeping his options open by moving for two centre-halves simultaneously. Sources have indicated that he is even prepared to buy both players in this window in a shock double swoop that could cost £24 million.
Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis had a private lunch with his Bolton Wanderers counterpart, chairman Phil Gartside, in Doncaster last Thursday during the two-day Premier League AGM and it is understood they held ‘amicable’ discussions about Cahill moving to Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal sources say there is a possibility that Wenger could sign Cahill and Samba, which would mean the club would have six senior central defenders in total, although the Gunners are willing to listen to offers for Sebastien Squillaci.
It is has been mooted that first-choice centre-half Thomas Vermaelen could be used regularly at left-back next season, especially if Gael Clichy leaves the club, as he is expected to do. Vermaelen often filled in on the left side of defence at former club Ajax before his move to Arsenal two summers ago.
However, Arsene Wenger may be in advanced talk with both defenders just in case one of the deals fall through.
Rumours are also going around that Arsenal are "interested" in signing Defoe.

Finally, it appears that Arsenal have had a bid turned down By Shaktar Donetsk for their Brazilian midfielder Douglas Costa, according to the players agent. Arsenal were offering Denilson in a straight swap, however, Shaktar are not interested in Denilson and only want money for the player.
